Bridal trial preparation

How to Prepare for Your Bridal Hair and Makeup Trial

Your bridal trial is the time to explore your look, ask questions, and make sure your hair and makeup feel like you. A little preparation helps us make the most of our time together.

Choose a few inspiration photos

Bring two or three hairstyles and makeup looks you love. For hair, look for examples with a similar length and texture to yours. For makeup, tell us what you like about each image—perhaps the softly defined eyes, the lip color, or the natural finish. Share what you prefer to avoid, too.

Tell us about your dress and wedding plans

A photo of your dress or neckline helps us consider how your hairstyle will frame your overall look. Let us know your wedding date, getting-ready location, ceremony plans, and whether you expect to spend time outdoors. These details help us discuss a look that suits your celebration.

Bring your veil, hair accessories, and planned extensions

If you already have a veil, comb, pins, or other accessories, bring them so we can try their placement. If you are considering clip-in extensions, mention that when scheduling your trial. We can discuss whether they would help achieve your chosen style and what to bring.

Confirm how to prepare your hair

Ask us when to wash your hair and whether any products should be avoided before your appointment. Preparation can vary with your hair texture and the style you want. Arrive with fully dry hair unless we have arranged otherwise, and avoid flat-ironing it before a trial for a curled style unless we advise you to.

Arrive with clean skin and share your preferences

Arrive with your makeup removed and follow your familiar skincare routine. Tell us about any sensitivities, products you prefer, and the amount of coverage you usually wear. Bring your everyday lip color if you love it. We can explore natural or soft glam makeup, airbrush makeup, and lashes together.

Wear a light-colored top with an open neckline

A white or light-colored top can help you picture your finished bridal look. Choose a button-down or another top that is easy to remove without disturbing your hairstyle.

Give honest feedback during the appointment

If you would like softer eye makeup, more volume, a different part, or fewer face-framing pieces, say so. Your feedback helps us refine the look. Take photos from the front, sides, and back, and notice how your hair and makeup wear afterward. Share those observations with us before your wedding day.
